Quality Technician

We are recruiting for a Quality Technician to join our Technical Team working at our Clevedon site.

We are a rapidly growing, vibrant company producing food flavourings and seasonings for snacks, for customers across the UK and European Food Markets, within our BRC and M&S Accreditation. The ethos of the company is based around outstanding service coupled with providing our customers with creative solutions and innovations.

Scope of the Role
We are seeking a Quality Technician to join our Technical team. This position would suit a highly motivated energetic person with a positive outlook, who is task focused with great attention to detail and an excellent communicator. We are looking for a confident team player who can work on their own initiative as well as covering the day-to-day requirements of a fast-paced environment, who has experience working in a QC laboratory.

Duties include:

  • QC testing of all materials and QC release and samples despatched to the Lab
  • Setup and run the daily taste panel
  • Carry out product testing including moisture, GCMS and others (if required training will be provided)
  • Support the Production Team answering queries and processing paperwork
  • Support the business with specific projects
  • Ensure all factory retained samples are stored and catalogued
  • Take microbiology swabs and water samples
  • Preparation of samples for external testing
  • Upload and maintain accurate data on file and within the Company IT platform
  • Maintain and calibrate QC testing equipment
  • Conduct factory audits
  • Comply with all Company hygiene, environmental and health and safety requirements

 

Requirements

  • Competent in using Microsoft Office and Outlook, including Word and Excel
  • GCSE or equivalent at Grade B or above in Maths and English / Maths and English language are required (written and verbal)
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment or within the food industry, would be beneficial
  • Work well within a busy team environment, with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently
  • Excellent time management skills with a flexible approach to work
  • Full Right to Work in the UK
  • Full Clean Driving Licence
  • Working in a food environment you will be required to wear food safety PPE including a hairnet and beard snood (as appropriate)

 

Role: Quality Technician

Reporting to: QA & Technical Compliance Co-ordinator

Gross Salary: Competitive salary, confirmed on application

Location: Unit 11 Windmill Business Park, Windmill Rd, Kenn, Clevedon, North Somerset BS21 6SR

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week:
08:45 to 16:45 Monday to Thursday
08:45 to 16:00 on Friday including 45 minutes paid lunch break and
45 minute early finish on a Friday

6 weeks plus bank holidays after ten years’ service*
3 days entitlement must be taken for Christmas shutdown
Entitlement increased at the beginning of the holiday year following the service anniversary

Probationary Period: 3 months

Notice: During the first four years of continuous employment not less than one month’s notice;
For each subsequent year of service one week’s additional notice (up to a maximum of twelve weeks).
