The team have just returned from a fantastic few days away in London at Food Matters Live, demonstrating how our range of innovations can help with your masking, reducing and replacement strategies.
The event brought together over 800 organisations in the food and beverage industry and allowed Create Flavours to educate manufacturers on the benefits of natural flavourings.
Highlights from the event included showcasing our protein masking technology in protein bites, adding a masking system and natural top-note flavourings. This year we’ve see new protein products being introduced to the market as ‘healthy indulgence’, allowing people to fit a ‘treat’ into their healthy living lifestyle. With this in mind, these consumers are now prioritising taste as well as nutritional content.
A popular topic of conversation was our clean label sugar reduction and fat reduction flavouring systems – in response to the guidelines published by Public Health England (PHE) to reduce the amount of sugar contained in food. The challenge is to reduce sugar by 5% by August 2017 and overall by 20% by 2020. Customers using our complete flavouring solutions have already reported they have been able to reduce the sugar content in their products by up to 25% without compromising on taste.
Our Applications Manager, Annie Bird and Technical Director, Nick Dyson were on hand to demonstrate how our flavourings can be used to assist with other ingredient challenges. 54% of the population purchased a ‘free from’ product during the first three months of the year* – but how can we ensure the taste is meeting their demand for an authentic taste? Our selection of flavourings can assist in replacing major allergens, such as our nut-free nut flavours or lactose free-dairy flavour substitutes, matching the true taste.
